CHRISTIAN McCULLOCH

Makeup artist Christian McCulloch was artistic as a child and loved art in all its forms: painting, sculpture, fashion, film, hair-styling, music, theater. Fascinated by the power of makeup’s transformative qualities, he began a career as a makeup artist in Sydney, Australia at a very young age, his work gracing the pages of Australian Vogue before the tender age of twenty-two. By his twenty-fifth birthday, Christian had moved to London where he began an apprenticeship with makeup guru, Val Garland. Under her tutelage, Christian worked on some of the most prestigious photo-shoots and fashion shows across the globe, honing his technical skills on the catwalks in Milan Paris and London.

Encouraged by beauty editors in London, Christian decided to break out on his own, and in 2001, made his way to New York, where he was hailed by Vogue magazine as “one to watch.” His works began to appear in all the biggest fashion publications; Allure, Interview all editions of Vogue, Bazaar, iD, V Magazine, W Magazine, Elle and many more. He became a favorite of the industries’ top photographers, collaborating regularly with stars like Patrick Demarchelier, Greg Kadel, Hedi Slimane, Ellen Von Unwerth, Max Vadukul, Regan Cameron, Glen Lutchford, Solve Sundsbo and Alexi Lubomirski.

His fine attention to the quality of skin, his bold experimentation with color, his precision with contour - these made him a favorite with beauty editors for quotes, and it also caught the attention of cosmetic giants like L’Oreal. Revlon, Cover Girl, YSL and MAC - all whom employed his expertise on their campaigns and involved him in their product launches. Meanwhile, fashion giants like Oscar de la Renta, Tory Burch, Donna Karan and MaxMara hired him on regular basis to bring beauty to their national campaigns.

Outside of fashion, Christian is one of the most sought after makeup artists for A-List Hollywood.
